Qualcomm is preparing powerful chips, “Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series (SM8950 & SM8975)”, to launch by the end of this year, which might be in September 2026. As we all know, last year on 23 September 2026, Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 series, which is now found in the Xiaomi 17 series. This year, they are planning to launch two chips at the same time as Gen 5, that is September, 2026 (Q3 / Q4).
As per the leaks given by the Digital Chat Station (DCS), SM8950 is also known as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and SM8975 is also known as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
DCS says that these leaks are not very promising, so let’s see what the leaks of both chips are.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Series Specifications Leaks
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro might become next-gen flagship chips which are built on TSMC 2nm Process (N2P), and it features with 2 + 3 + 3 CPU architecture which helps to balance the approach between performance & efficiency cores. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip offers Adreno 845 GPU with 12MB GMEM (Adreno HPM) graphic memory, and 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro offers Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB GMEM graphic memory.
The Gen 6 supports LPDDR5X RAM in a 4 x 16 setup with 6MP LLC, and Gen 6 Pro supports LPDDR6/ LPDDR5X RAM in 4 x 24 configurations with 8MP LLC.
Both chips can become a powerful flagship in 2026, which can be used in ultra-premium Android devices. The standard model that is 8 Elite Gen 6 offers high performance, and the pro model that is 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro has a great GPU for heavy tasks & superior memory bandwidth.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series can become an ultra-premium chipset in 2026. These chips can be used by flagship Android devices, similar to Gen 5, which is used in the Xiaomi 17 series. According to the leaks, the Gen 6 might be used first by Xiaomi 18 series, which is going to launch in September 2026. This is also not yet fixed, but it has a high chance of being launched and using this chipset. Talking about the Gen 6 Pro, it might be used in the OnePlus 16, Redmi K100 Pro Max, and POCO F9 Ultra.
